Here’s a NL ring move that everyone needs to have of their arsenal. It’s known as the minimum raise freeze play. You need to be manages to utilize it. This is a late position, post flop move (but only within the flop, not on the turn or river). The move is usually to complete a minimum raise which has a strong draw and/or perhaps a decent hand you want to call with but would rather not see far more betting from the opponent. The intention of the move is twofold:

1. measure the strength of the other player, and
2. get yourself a free card that has a strong draw.

Here is a perfect example. Again, you’ve position and it’s heads-on the flop – either since it was heads-up preflop or because about the flop early position bet and the competition folded for you in late position.

Example – You’ve KQ of hearts on the button. You’ll find multiple limpers preflop. The flop comes AQ8, the A and 8 are hearts. You’ve got a nut flush draw. Result – it doesn’t matter. You made the correct move on the proper time for the right value and reasons.
Note: if he calls you and then is released with another 1/2 pot size bet or larger on the turn, then let your cards go. If he creates a really weak bet then call him up to see a heart about the river. But this was a “move”. Whenever your move doesn’t happen there isn’t a “plan B”. Either you must get lucky thus hitting a heart (on this scenario) or perhaps you fold being a cheap suit.
